Rolex Submariner 1680

The Rolex 1680 is a Sub in one of it’s most iconic forms, and a favourite of ours here at Watch Vault. Featuring a classic matte dial, plexiglass with cyclops, silver date wheel, and in the pre-ceramic case it features all the hallmarks of a classic Sub while still providing some of the best value in the vintage Rolex world in our opinion.

This particular example dates from circa-1979 and presents in excellent vintage condition. Case is thick and sharp. Lugs are very even, with clear numbers between them. Case shows minor scratching and scuffs from regular use, as well as a few small nicks. Lovely condition for its age.

Bezel shows a light fade and some scratching, and the matte tritium markers show a nice, even patina developing. Hands are original and perhaps a shade lighter than the markers.

Original silver date wheel in place with open 6’s and 9’s.

Comes equipped on a 93150 bracelet with 9 links and 580 endlinks. Very minor stretch. Clasp is a VD code dating to 1979.

Unknown service history. Currently running very strongly and showing +11 seconds per day at high 200 degrees of amplitude at time of writing.
