This is it, top of the tree as far as Rolex model lines go, and has remained the King of Rolex for very good reason. With a long lineage, and a history of some of the most interesting pieces the Big R have ever produced, they’re our personal favourite Rolex’s and likely the watch we’d take over all others if we were to have just one.

The current DD40 line was released in 2015, and was an improvement on the preceding Day Date II in all ways. With far nicer proportions, it’s a lot closer to the classic Day Dates in appearance, just larger for more modern tastes. In 2016, they released an Olive Green dial to celebrate 60 years of the Day Date. With it’s faceted Roman Numeral dial that catches the light in the most mesmerising way, combined with the tones of sunburst Olive against the White Gold gold case, it’s perhaps the most handsome combo of any in the current lineup.

This particular example was first sold locally in 2018, and presents in TZ ‘Good’ condition. Has been worn regularly, and shows light scuffs and scratches commensurate with that use. There’s also some very small nicks and pin dents present, mainly along the edges of the lugs, but all are tiny. Case back shows some rub marks and scratching. No service history. It needs a service as it’s currently running at around -15 to -20 seconds a day at around 180 degrees of amplitude.

Comes with outer sleeve, outer box, inner box, instruction booklet, warranty card (expired), white hang tag, green hang tag, and card holder.
