Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 1601 Cream Dial
Here we have a gorgeous vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 1601.
Featuring a classic 36mm case, folded link Jubilee bracelet, creamy non-lume dial with gorgeous applied markers, it makes for a versatile and elegant piece, and one it that is now starting to become extremely popular with collectors and those wanting to take their first steps into the vintage Rolex scene.
This particular example dates from circa-1968 and presents in excellent vintage condition. Original non-lume pie-pan dial has aged to a lovely creamy colour, with an even patina across it. Hands are correct non-lume, and in excellent condition.
Case has been polished in it’s life, but retains even lugs, with numbers clearly visible between them. Bezel shows quite a bit of polish. Case back is stamped 68, so appears original. See images for full condition details.
Bracelet is a 6251H with 55 endlinks which is era-correct, and has 20 links. Shows heavy stretch, but was re-pinned by Michael Young a few years ago. Clasp is dated 3/68, so same age as the watch and would appear original.
Was given a full mechanical service by Watchguy in the UK 5 or 6 years ago (images available). Winds very smoothly, date changes as it should, and the movement is very clean. Keeping time at around +40 secs a day, so could use a regulation.
Comes with one spare link for the bracelet, and with that fitted would fit a roughly 7.7in wrist. No box or papers.
A very original, lovely 1601.
