This is it, top of the tree as far as Rolex model lines go, and has remained the King of Rolex for very good reason. With a long lineage, and a history of some of the most interesting pieces the Big R have ever produced, they’re our personal favourite Rolex’s and likely the watch we’d take over all others if we were to have just one.

The current DD40 line was released in 2018, and was an improvement on the preceding Day Date II in all ways. With far nicer proportions, it’s a lot closer to the classic Day Dates in appearance, just larger for more modern tastes. In 2019, they released an Olive Green dial to celebrate 60 years of the Day Date. With it’s faceted Roman Numeral dial that catches the light in the most mesmerising way, combined with the tones of sunburst Olive against the Everose gold case, it’s perhaps the most handsome combo of any in the current lineup.

This particular example was first sold in 2022, and presents in TZ Near Mint condition. There’s some very minor hairlines on the polished lugs, but has clearly been worn sparingly. The sides of the case have some protective stickers in place, so they’re in excellent condition. Bezel is ultra-sharp, with some scratches and small nicks seen visible under a loupe. The President bracelet is currently sized for a 7.6in wrist, with one spare link included. Shows only very light hairlines. Some stickers within the clasp still in place

No service history, but far too new for that. Winds smoothly, and keeping COSC time. Under manufacturers warranty until 2027.

Comes with outer box, inner box, instruction booklet, warranty card dated August 2022, white hang tag, green hang tag, and a certificate of authenticity from The Horologist in Sydney.
