Panerai Radiomir 1940 3 Days Acciaio 47mm PAM00662 PAM662 ‘Egiziano Piccolo’ LE
This is the modern Panerai for us here at WV HQ, combining the best case size and shape, dial configuration, and detail elements in the modern era. It’s no wonder these traded for 50% over RRP after release in the early-2010’s, and what made it so special then still holds up after all these years.
These 47mm Luminor 1950’s cases from Panerai are an absolute favourite in the range for us. The proportions of the case feels spot on, and the weight disbursement across the wrist makes them more comfortable than the 44mm range in our opinion. There’s also far more detail to the case itself than found on non-1950 Luminor cases, with a contoured and curved mid-case, and aesthetically it feels like it sits closer to the wrist than the more slab-sided regular cases. When combined with that better sense of weight distribution on the wrist, it’s the most comfortable Panerai for us.
The domed plexiglass creates a wonderful distortion to the dial when viewed on an angle, not unlike a Speedy Pro with hesalite. It adds a warmth not seen in other variations, and when combined with the classic Panerai 1950’s Luminor aesthetic and ‘base’ sandwich dial with gilt hands and text, makes for one of the coolest pieces released by Panerai in the last 15 years, and one our personal favourites next to the ‘Fiddy’ and 662.
Powering it is the manual wind P.3000 movement which has proven to be a workhorse, and is a joy to wind.
This particular piece is a P-serial so would have been produced in 2013, and presents in TZ ‘Good’ condition. The case is in lovely condition overall, with light hairlines and small scratches present. There’s a few very minor nicks present, one on the mid-case just outboard of the bezel between 4 and 5, another between the top lugs on the mid-case, and a small one on the side of the lower right lug. All are very small, and are the reason for the ‘Good’ rather than ‘Excellent’ grading on the TZ scale. See images for full condition details.
Original strap is heavily worn, but included. Currently mounted to an lovely aftermarket strap which compliments it to a tee.
No service history that we’re aware of. Keeping time at around +14 secs a day at 290+ degrees of amplitude, and all functions operating as they should.
Comes with inner box, hang tags (stickers), spare plexi, bezel protector, screwdriver, warranty booklet (expired) and OEM strap (heavily worn).
