Grand Seiko White Birch Hi-Beat SLGH005
Released in 2021, the White Birch from Grand Seiko helped debut their new design language, known as Design 9. Based on the 44GS case, it debuts strong new hands and more complex markers, and with the overall thinner case and new bracelet it looks like an evolution of the already stunning Grand Seiko 44GS lines.
Housed within this 40mm steel case is the absolutely spectacular White Birch dial, echoing the dynamism of the white birch tree forests near the studio in Shizukuishi, where all Grand Seiko mechanical watches are crafted. It looks amazing in photos, and even better in person.
Powering it is the new 9SA5 Hi-Beat movement with 80 hour power reserve, and allows for a thickness of 11.3mm even with automatic winding. Finishing levels on the movement are now even better, and the skeletonization of the rotor allows for a better view.
This particular one-owner example was sold locally in January 2022 and presents in TZ ‘Good’ condition with marks consistent with regular wear. The brushed sections of the case show some minor scratches and scuffs, with a small pint dent present on the side of the left upper lug, and a small ding at the lower edge of the mid-case in the middle. The polished sections show some scratches, with minor ‘flea bits’ present on the edges of the bevels and the outer edge of the bezel. There’s a small chip on the edge of the crystal outboard of the 2 marker. Please see images for full condition details.
No service history, far too new for that. Keeping time at , and remains under manufacturers warranty until 2027.
Comes with outer box, inner box, warranty card dated January 2022, GS inspection certificate, GS pouch, instruction booklet, hang tag and spare links to complete the bracelet.
No service history, still too new for that. Currently keeping time at around +9 seconds a day.
Absolutely one of the best releases from Grand Seiko thus far in our opinion. RRP is $14,000 AUD – save big on this fantastic daily-wearable example.
