Heuer Carrera Dato 45 3147S
One of the quintessential chronographs of the 60’s, this is the second generation of the Dato 45 which features an offset date window at the 9 o’clock position. This was controversial to collectors when first released, but they have experienced something of a renaissance in the last few years, and have been the subject of numerous recent reissues such is their good looks and historical importance.
This particular piece features a 5 digit serial, marking it as an earlier piece and would date to circa-1968 we believe. Presents in excellent vintage condition. Case is thick and sharp with serial number is clearly visible. Shows signs wear commensurate with its age in the form of scratches and a few minor dings.
The dial is in excellent condition. There’s some light scratches visible under a loupe, and a few small indents around the outer edges. Shows minor spotting. Tritium plots mostly intact. 3 and 9 are mostly missing, though remnants remains. Minute track on the rehaut shows some staining as is typical of these.
Hands appear original. Tritium is in place, and show minor scratches.
Movement is a manually wound Landeron Caliber 189. Apparently serviced within the last couple of years by the previous retailer. Chrono starts, stops and resets as it should. Winds smoothly and keeps COSC time.
Currently mounted to a lovely HANDDN Nubuck strap in a short length on HANDDN buckle that compliments it beautifully.
No box or papers. Comes with Watch Vault cleaning cloth and Watch Vault Travel Pod.
Highly desirable and rare in to find in condition such as this.
