Heuer Autavia ‘Jo Siffert’ Automatic Chronograph 1163T Mark IV
We’re big fans of vintage Autavia’s here at WV HQ, and this particular version is perhaps our very favourite. Known as the ‘Siffert’ in collecting circles due to its presence on the wrist of famous driver Jo Siffert, who raced and won in F1, at Daytona, Sebring, and Targa Florio and unfortunately passed away in an accident in 1971.
Regardless of the connection to Mr Siffert, the watch is absolutely stunning in its own right. The contemporary 42mm sized steel case couldn’t be from any other era, and looks amazing. It presents in excellent vintage condition, with good finishes and sharp bevels. Shows marks, dings and dents commensurate with its age. Serial numbered 203,XXX.
Housed within this case is a white Mk IV dial with black subdials, and signature blue accents. Condition is near-perfect. All tritium plots in place. Hands are original with only minimal degradation and free from cracks.
Powering it is one of the first automatic chronographs, the Calibre 11. Service history is unknown. Chrono operating as it should, and keeping time at about +35 secs a day at low 200’s amplitude.
Please see images for full condition details.
Comes as watch, Watch Vault Travel Pod and Watch Vault cleaning cloth – no box or papers.
This is an absolutely spectacular example of a highly sought after vintage Heuer. They don’t come much better.
